Project

For our effort we are currently analyzing a bike, named "Varnator" of the same pedigree as the record bike. The mold started out as a Varna 2. Aerodynamic and functional modifications were made by Steve Nash and Steve Delaire. Major construction of the fairing was performed by Brian Romano, while the frame was built by Steve Delaire using Steve Nash's measurements. I purchased and finished the bike in 2007. Our goal is to make the modifications necessary to turn the bike into a world-record-capable speed bike to compete at this year's World Human Powered Speed Championship in September.

The name Varnator was coined by Brian for the bike. The name comes from the original Varna shape combined with the frame builders name Rotator recumbents.

Below is the bike at speed during last years Speed Championship.

A build diary of the Varnator is documented at the www.recumbents.com website. http://www.recumbents.com/WISIL/varnator/default.htm. The newest updates can be found in the photo section of this website http://www.ericksonracing.com/drupal/photos.
