Jeff Angermann, Pilot
Jeff Angermann is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Public Health (UNR SPH), and was previously a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM). His research interests are in the fields of (1) Vascular smooth muscle physiology, specifically addressing the pharmacology and role of smooth muscle ion channels in pulmonary hypertension and hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction, and (2) Clinical exercise physiology, relating to the physiological and ergogenic effects of hyperoxic exposure as well as modalities of exercise intervention for weight loss. He is an ex-professional road cyclist, a five-time collegiate all-American athlete and four-time National Champion in both road and mountain disciplines. His passion for cycling carries through to coaching: He has attained the highest level of coaching certification for cycling (USCF elite level; one of fewer than 100 nationwide) and currently coaches both road and mountain cyclists. Dr. Angermann is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Heart Association, the American Physiological Society, the Biophysical Society, and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.
